Windows 10/11

If you want to use Windows, I'd suggest using Windows 10.
Windows 10 and Windows 11 are the most standard OS you can currently use. They are supported by most software and run okay, but performance isn't prioritized.
I'd only use Windows if you need an easy OS to use.
If you are gonna use Windows 11, be careful, a lot of the updates are coded by AI and don't work very well amd can cause system failure.

Linux Mint

Probably the best Linux distro.
It has a very similar layout to Windows, and runs flawlessly.
It has very good performace, and works perfectly on old and new PCs.

Windows Vista

Aesthetically very pleasing, but can't run solitare.
It can't run 64-bit programs, so I wouldn't bother besides nostalgia.
It runs pretty good though, and is efficient. Most schools used it back in the day.
